In the Astrakhan region, with units of anti-aircraft missile formations and military units undergoing training (retraining for the latest weapons) at the training center for the combat use of military air defense, large-scale air defense exercises were conducted with combat launches of anti-aircraft missile systems of long-range and anti-aircraft missile systems of medium and short range. actions. The massive use of aerospace attack weapons was opposed by an echeloned air defense system.

During the exercise, units of anti-aircraft missile formations of the Southern, Western and Eastern military districts repulsed massive attacks of ballistic and cruise missiles, aviation, as well as a raid of a “swarm” of unmanned aerial vehicles of a conventional enemy.

At the Kapustin Yar training ground, a military air defense group was created from units of five anti-aircraft missile formations and military units armed with advanced anti-aircraft missile systems and the S-300V4, Buk-M3 and Tor-M2 complexes.

To create a complex target environment, high-speed target missiles were used – analogs of ballistic and aerodynamic air targets, as well as the “Adjutant” universal complex, which includes the entire line of air attack weapons from helicopters to cruise missiles. At the same time, the raid of various air attack weapons of the conditional enemy was carried out simultaneously.

During the main phase of the exercise, the anti-aircraft missile divisions, after marching and taking up combat positions, worked out the tasks of timely opening and repelling air strikes of a simulated enemy in conditions of high-intensity radio-electronic jamming.

At the first line of echeloned defense, the S-300V4 long-range anti-aircraft missile systems battalions repelled the strike of aeroballistic missiles, performing combat launches at targets descending from an altitude of more than 150 km.

At the second frontier, combat crews of the Buk-M3 medium-range air defense systems and the Tor-M2 short-range anti-aircraft missile systems battalions carried out combat missile launches, repelling the attack of the imaginary enemy cruise missiles flying at extremely low altitudes.

Also, combat crews of the Buk-M3 and Tor-M2 air defense missile systems hit high-speed group targets simulating an air raid at a distance of 10 to 40 km.

The Tor-M2 short-range anti-aircraft missile systems divisions carried out combat launches against group air targets simulating the raid of a “swarm” of unmanned aerial vehicles of a conventional enemy at a distance of up to 15 km.

At the extreme line of the air defense, Typhoon-Air Defense combat vehicles were used, the calculations of which with the help of the Verba MANPADS ensured the interception and destruction of the remaining air attack weapons of the simulated enemy at a distance of up to 6 thousand meters and an altitude of 3.5 thousand meters.

In total, during the exercise, anti-aircraft gunners destroyed more than 40 air single and group targets at altitudes from 7 meters to 35 km, while missile launches were made at a range of 3 to 50 km.

More than 1000 servicemen and 300 units of weapons and military equipment were involved in practical actions to ensure echeloned air defense.

All assigned targets during the exercise were hit.
