The business program of the IV Youth Forum “Heritage” this year will be held online. This was announced by the head Department of Cultural Heritage of the City of Moscow Alexey Emelyanov.

“The Forum is being held for the fourth time. For three years, more than 12 thousand people took part in the forum. This year, the number of students who work in teams within the framework of the competition program exceeded 100 for the first time. On October 2, we launched their work, and the forum itself will be held on November 25, 26 and 27. Throughout all three days, a live broadcast will be organized, thanks to which everyone will be able to connect and listen to the business program, see the defense of competition projects, and also take part in the festival day, which has become, perhaps, the main innovation of this year, ”he said.

This year’s business program is based on five main trends in the field of cultural heritage protection, which were identified during the international study “Heritage in the Big City”. This includes the digitalization of heritage, the expansion of the concept of “heritage”, the adaptation of monuments to environmental changes, an increase in the role of residents in the process of preserving heritage and the involvement of monuments in socio-economic activities. These and other issues will be discussed at the plenary session and round tables. The participants are representatives of the professional community, authorities, the media, as well as foreign experts in the field of urbanism and architecture.

During the business program, the presentation of student projects will also take place. They will be assessed by a jury consisting of the management and professors of the participating universities, experts. The winning team will be awarded in December at the Moscow Restoration 2021 ceremony.

In addition to lectures, master classes and presentations of student work, a job fair will take place. The All-Russian Museum of Decorative and Applied Arts, the Russian National Museum of Music, the Museum of Russian Impressionism, the Pushkin Museum named after A.S. Pushkin and others.

Large educational project

Forum “Heritage” – an educational project of the capital Department of Cultural Heritage, Created in partnership with leading universities in the capital. The main goal of the forum is to popularize cultural heritage and knowledge about the features of its preservation. The forum consists of three parts: competitive, educational and business. The competition started on October 2. Students-participants prepare projects on how to restore and incorporate into the life of the city the ensemble of the Moscow Imperial Orphanage, the largest building of the pre-revolutionary period.

The forum was attended by representatives of 13 universities, including the Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov Moscow Architectural Institute, National Research University Higher School of Economics, Moscow State Law University named after O.E. Kutafina, National Research Moscow State University of Civil Engineering, Russian Academy of National Economy and Public Administration under the President of the Russian Federation, Moscow City University of Management of the Government of Moscow named after Yu.M. Luzhkov, Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography, Moscow Financial and Industrial University “Synergy”, State University of Management, Moscow State Art and Industry Academy named after S.G. Stroganov, Russian Economic University named after G.V. Plekhanov and College of Architecture, Design and Reengineering No. 26.

For the first time, the University Gymnasium of the Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov. Schoolchildren will work with students on an equal footing.

The participating students were divided into several interdisciplinary teams so that each of them included representatives of different specialties. There are restorers, architects, historians, sociologists, urbanists, economists, lawyers, managers.

In addition to working in teams, they will receive lectures, master classes and expert advice in the field of architecture, restoration, urbanism, history, economics, law, management and sociology.
