Order of October 28, 2021 No. 3046-r

The Perm Territory will receive 1.75 billion rubles for the construction of a modern building for the regional art gallery. This order was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

The new site for the museum is planned to be opened in 2023 – to the three hundredth anniversary of Perm. Today the gallery does not have its own premises. Because of this, visitors have access to only a small part of the museum fund, which is exhibited in the Transfiguration Cathedral.

The building will be built in the historical center of Perm next to the river station. Its total area will exceed 20 thousand square meters. m. Along with the exhibition halls, it will house a library, an educational center, a scientific archive, a repository and restoration workshops.

The Perm State Art Gallery was opened in 1922. There are over 50 thousand exhibits in her collection. In addition to paintings and works of plastic art – including the unique Perm wooden sculpture – the museum’s collection includes items made of precious metals, ceramics and glass, as well as drawings, posters and printed graphics.
