An audio guide has been developed in the capital “Looking for an elevator”, with the help of which Muscovites and guests of the city can learn all the most interesting about unusual elevators. They will also be told about the history of Moscow elevator construction, said the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Economic Policy and Property and Land Relations. Vladimir Efimov.

“Today there are four elevator manufacturers in Moscow, among them are the largest enterprises in the country. In total, they employ more than four thousand employees. In the first eight months of this year alone, the capital’s factories produced about 10 thousand lifts, which corresponds to the level of last year and is almost 20 percent more compared to the same period in 2019. The excursion will allow you to get acquainted with the most interesting specimens operating in Moscow, as well as with the history of the Russian elevator construction, ”he said.

The one-hour tour includes seven points. Participants will be told about the first lift in Moscow, which was installed in a tenement house on Rozhdestvensky Boulevard in 1900, about the elevator in which the scenes of the film “Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears” were filmed and what lifts Faina Ranevskaya, Klara Luchko, Marina Ladynina, Nonna used every day Mordyukov. Also, the townspeople will learn why the Yelokhovsky Cathedral was equipped with an elevator in the 1970s and why it is customary to hang mirrors in the cabins of modern mechanisms.

The audio guide was developed by the Shcherbinsky Elevator Building Plant. General Director Anton Artemiev noted that every fourth Russian elevator is produced here. According to the results of the first eight months of the year, the plant produced more than six thousand lifts.

“In addition to apartment buildings, we supply elevators for social facilities: medical and educational institutions, sports centers, as well as for special orders for secure facilities. The lifts of the Shcherbinsky Elevator Plant are already transporting power engineers to the Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP, cargo at the Scientific Research Institute of Atomic Reactors of the Rosatom State Corporation, as well as doctors and patients in infectious diseases hospitals in the country. In the near future, our elevators will lift people and goods to the 17-storey cable-filling tower of the Vostochny cosmodrome, ”noted Anton Artemyev.
