On October 27-28, the 32nd session of the General Assembly of the International Research Center for the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM) was held online. More than one hundred delegations of ICCROM member states, observer countries and partner organizations of the Center took part in the event. The Russian side was represented by the staff of the Secretariat of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO, the Embassy of Russia in Rome and the Ministry of Culture of Russia.

The participants of the General Assembly discussed the progress of the implementation of the main programs and the execution of the ICCROM budget, approved the plan of activities for 2022-2023. Particular attention was paid to the consideration of issues related to the digital transformation of the Center’s work, the search for ways to overcome the negative consequences of the pandemic, the development of interaction in the field of preserving the world cultural heritage, in particular within the framework of joint scientific research and educational programs.

During the event, elections were held to the ICCROM Council (the supreme governing body of the Center in the period between sessions of the General Assembly). For a new term from 2022 to 2025 a Russian expert, Chairman of the Council of the Union of Restorers of St. Petersburg NN Shangina was elected to this structure.
