The text of the congratulatory telegram from the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Nikolai Yevmenov, says:

“On October 30, a significant date is celebrated in our country – the Day of the Founding of the Russian Navy – Day of the sailor-surface-waterman.

Dear comrades! Dear veterans!

The 325-year history of the Russian Navy is inseparable from the heroic history of our state.

The date of the creation of the Russian regular fleet is considered to be 1696 – on October 20, at the suggestion of Peter I, the Boyar Duma made a decision: “there will be ships …”.

At the initial stage of the construction of the fleet, not everything went smoothly. However, Peter I himself repeatedly emphasized: “if you do not make a bad beginning, then you cannot wait for a good end” … The result was not long in coming – soon the Russian fleet forever inscribed victories at Gangut (1714), Ezele on the tablets of the military annals of the Fatherland. (1719), Grengame (1720).

The fleet has become an important instrument of Russia’s foreign policy, has contributed to the development of the economy and the growth of the country’s international prestige.

The right to be considered a great naval power has been won by generations of our compatriots, whose courage and dedication, brilliant victories in naval battles have acquired unfading glory for the country and its Navy. Today, Russian naval sailors are vigilantly on watch to protect the sea borders of the Motherland and, as before, are ready for any storm warnings. At the moment, the task of the naval presence is performed by more than 80 ships, ships of the Russian Navy, the crews of which perform their military duty with honor and high professionalism, guaranteeing the prevention of threats in the sea and ocean areas.

The modern Russian Navy is nuclear missile and ocean-going. It is capable of solving problems of any complexity at a high level of efficiency in all latitudes of the World Ocean.

The Russian Navy is actively being updated. The Navy receives the latest ships and submarines equipped with weapons that have no analogues in the world. In 2021, the Russian Navy will receive more than 40 surface ships, submarines, support vessels and multifunctional boats. The naval shipbuilding program for a number of positions is being carried out ahead of schedule, which indicates a huge attention to the Navy.

New generations of Russian naval sailors are making unparalleled Arctic and Antarctic expeditions, continuing the baton that began more than three centuries ago. Naval sailors demonstrate the qualities of real professionals in the course of interspecies, general naval and international exercises, master new models of equipment and weapons, and unswervingly respect the glorious naval traditions.

I want to thank everyone who dedicated their lives to the Navy, for loyal service to the Fatherland, for cohesion and solidarity, for deep feelings of truth, honor, justice, for the willingness to fulfill their duty. We are especially grateful to our loved ones for their understanding, love and support, which are so necessary in our difficult profession. Together we are the Navy!

I wish you all good health, good luck and necessarily a rapid movement forward – to knowledge, discoveries, to new achievements!

Seven feet under the keel!”.
