In the Leningrad Region, pilots of the Mi-24 attack helicopter of the Leningrad Army of the Internal Troops and Air Defense of the Western Military District, during training flights, worked out forcing an intruder helicopter to land.

As part of the flight mission, the crew had to move to a predetermined area to detect an unidentified aircraft, visually detect the target, take on escort and practice the techniques of forcing the intruder to land.

The simulated enemy was performed by the crew of the Mi-8 helicopter, flying at altitudes less than 50 m, which, according to the training conditions, did not respond to requests from ground control services.

When carrying out operations by army aviation to force air objects to land, flights are performed using combat maneuvers. If the offender refuses to comply with the helicopter crew’s requirements to land, a demonstration of weapons and readiness for their use is made.
