On the territory of the sports complex “Start” of the Pskov Guards Airborne Assault Formation, the XII open championship of the formation in army hand-to-hand fighting, dedicated to the memory of Guard Major Alexander Kolchev, has ended.

Speaking at the opening of the championship, the commander of the Pskov unit of the guard, Major General Sergei Chubarykin, that the open championship in hand-to-hand combat is another milestone in the formation of courage and resilience of the younger generation.

The competition was attended by the daughter and son of the Guard Major Alexander Kolchev.

In total, about 90 military athletes took part in the championship – army hand-to-hand combat fighters in 16 teams that competed in 7 weight categories.

Among the participants in the tournament, one soldier has the sporting title of Master of Sports, five are candidates for Master of Sports, and a number of athletes have the first and second sports categories in this type of martial arts.

According to the results of the championship, the first team place was won by the team of the separate guards special-purpose unit of the Western Military District, the athletes-paratroopers of the Alexander Nevsky Guards Air Assault Regiment of the Black Sea Regiment were in second place, the paratroopers of the Turun Guards Air Assault Regiment took the third place.

The winners will represent the Pskov unit at the Airborne Forces Championship in 2022.
