Servicemen of the Tula Guards Airborne Force took part in the event dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the heroic defense of Tula and the 45th anniversary of the awarding of the title of “Hero City” to the city of Tula. On the same days, the city also celebrated the 80th anniversary of the creation of the legendary armored train No. 13 “Tula Rabochy”.

In 1941, an armored train, built by railway workers and armourers to defend the city, left the Tula steam locomotive depot. It became a unique creation of Tula masters. Throughout the 45 days of the heroic defense of Tula, armored train No. 13, named “Tulyak” and “Tula worker”, guarded the approaches to the city, defended against German air raids, and repelled attacks from enemy bombers.

After the completion of the Tula offensive operation in December 1941, the armored train was sent to the Southwestern and Southern fronts, where it courageously and selflessly repelled all enemy attacks.

As part of the event, the Tula paratroopers laid flowers at the monument to the Defenders of the Hero City of Tula during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. A company of the guard of honor of the Tula Guards Airborne Force marched in a solemn march to the music of a military orchestra, paying tribute to the heroic defenders of the Motherland.
