The pilots of a separate shipborne fighter aviation regiment of the Northern Fleet began the final stage of training under the program of flights from the deck of an aircraft carrier at the Saki airfield in the Crimea. There is a ground engineering and technical aviation complex (NITKA), which simulates the flight deck of the heavy aircraft-carrying cruiser “Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Kuznetsov”.

The Severomors began training in Crimea on October 9 and worked ten flight shifts until November 1. They worked two more flight shifts this week. The fighter pilots will conduct their final training flights at the beginning of next week, after which they will be relocated to their airfield in the Kola Arctic.

Currently, North Sea deck pilots have spent more than 85 hours in the air, having completed about 1000 exercises on the NITKA simulator: passes over the “deck”, touches it with the released landing gear and hooks on the aircraft finisher cable.

Both young and experienced pilots are involved in flying on the simulator, who restore and maintain their professional flight skills. Training flights are carried out on combat and combat training fighters MiG-29K and MiG-29KUB,

Earlier – in August-September – a similar training course for landing on an aircraft carrier on the NITKA simulator in the Crimea was passed by pilots of the Northern Fleet’s fighter air regiment on Su-33 aircraft. In the outgoing week, they practiced bombing at land and sea targets at the Lumbovsky training ground on the coast of the Kola Peninsula.
