Russian servicemen and veterans of the 201st military base in Tajikistan for the students of the 37th capital school held a lesson of courage dedicated to the beginning of the Soviet counteroffensive near Moscow.

In the assembly hall, Chairman of the Council of Veterans Abdurashid Rakhmanov reminded the children that December 5 of this year marks exactly 80 years since the start of the Red Army’s offensive near Moscow, and that this event was one of the turning points during the Great Patriotic War. The servicemen also told the children about the contribution of cavalry units that arrived at the front from Tajikistan and took an active part in defeating the Nazi invaders.

At the end of the lesson, a military history quiz was held on the knowledge of the events of the Great Patriotic War. The winners were awarded commemorative prizes with the symbols of the 201st Gatchina Order of Zhukov twice at the Red Banner Military Base.

The 201st military base stationed in Tajikistan is Russia’s largest military facility outside its borders. Located in two cities – Dushanbe and Bokhtar. It includes motorized rifle, tank, artillery, reconnaissance units, air defense units, RCB protection and communications.
