Within three years, the rolling stock of the Moscow metro will be renewed by 80 percent. This was reported by Sergei Sobyaninin an interview with the program “Week in the City” of the TV channel “Russia 1”.

“Within three years we will have the youngest, most modern metro rolling stock. It will be 80 percent updated. There is no such dynamics in the world. Moscow is number one in the world in terms of the dynamics of renewal and development of the rolling metro fleet, ”said the Moscow Mayor.

Sergei Sobyanin added that 10 years ago, Moscow public transport was in serious condition. The number of passengers decreased, Muscovites preferred private cars.

“We have reversed this trend. And today the public transport of the city of Moscow is one of the best in the world both in terms of quality and dynamics of development, ”said the Mayor of Moscow.

In Moscow develop railway transport, increase the number of electric buses on city streets and revive river passenger transport. The capital has already opened traffic on the first two Moscow Central Diameters (MCD), which are popular with passengers. Now they are building and designing MCD-3 “Leningradsko-Kazansky” (from Zelenograd to Ramenskoye), MCD-4 “Kievsko-Gorkovsky” (from Aprelevka to Zheleznodorozhny) and MCD-5 “Yaroslavsko-Paveletsky” (from Pushkin to Domodedov). The third and fourth diameters are planned to be opened in 2023-2024.

Today, more than 800 electric buses run along the streets of the city, serving 63 routes. Also, the capital plans to organize regular passenger traffic on the Moscow River in 2022. For this, routes are being developed and electric river trams are purchased.
