Their total capacity will make it possible to utilize about 650 thousand cubic meters of snow per day.

In the capital, 56 snow-melting stations have started to work, which will dispose of snow in the autumn-winter period. This was announced by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing and Communal Services and Improvement Peter Biryukov

“There will be 56 snow-rafting stations in the city, their total capacity allows to utilize about 650 thousand cubic meters of snow per day. In the Central Administrative District, if necessary, we will additionally use 38 mobile snow-rafts, ”the deputy mayor said.

Pyotr Biryukov recalled that all snow-melting points in Moscow dispose of snow without harm to the environment. The heat of the waste water is used for melting.

“The snow is discharged into the receiving hopper, where it is crushed by crusher separators, then it enters the structures, where waste water is supplied from sewer canals and collectors with a temperature of at least 10 degrees. All debris from the snow settles in the sand traps, which are installed at all snow-melting points. The melt water is discharged back to the sewer and goes to the treatment plant, ”added Pyotr Biryukov.

By the beginning of the season, the specialists carefully checked and, if necessary, repaired the systems of the snow-rafting stations, carried out the final test runs of the equipment. All items fully meet modern safety requirements.
