This year, 114 countries have purchased goods produced in the capital.

From January to August this year, the total export of pharmaceutical products and medical equipment in the capital amounted to $ 819.39 million, which is almost four times more than in 2019. This was announced by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Economic Policy and Property and Land Relations Vladimir Efimov

“Moscow today is the center of the pharmaceutical industry in Russia and a leading exporter of products in this sector. Thus, the capital accounts for about 40 percent of the supply of medical equipment and a little more than 52 percent of pharmaceutical products. The total exports of these two directions increased from $ 207.11 million in eight months of 2019 to $ 819.39 million in January-August 2021, “the deputy mayor said.

According to Vladimir Efimov, this year Moscow has sold pharmaceutical products to 114 countries – compared to last year, the geography of supplies has expanded to 17 countries. The main buyers were Argentina, India, Mexico, the United Arab Emirates, Italy, as well as neighboring countries. Medical products were shipped to 92 countries in the first eight months of this year. The key importers of this sector are neighboring countries, as well as European partners: the Netherlands, Germany, France.

“At the end of eight months of 2021, Moscow exports of medical products amounted to just over $ 69 million, which is 39 percent more than in the same period in 2020, and 32 percent more than in 2019. Moscow has increased the volume of exports of medical products due to a steady increase in the supply of computed tomographs, catheters and similar products, “- said the head of the capital

Department of Investment and Industrial Policy Alexander Prokhorov

The head of the department added that over the same period, Moscow exports of pharmaceutical products amounted to over $ 750 million, which is three and a half times more than in 2020 and almost five times more than in 2019. It was possible to increase the volume of exports of pharmaceutical products due to an increase in the supply of various kinds of vaccines, as well as due to the expansion of the range of other pharmaceutical products, including prepackaged drugs and immunological products.

Exporters – city support

Support measures provided by the city are one of the conditions for a stable growth in the export of products from enterprises in the capital. So, in November, one of the key events was the participation of representatives of Moscow manufacturers in the All-African diversified exhibition Intra-African Trade Fair 2021. The entrepreneurs were assisted in this by the specialists of the Mosprom export support and development center, subordinate to the capital Department of Investment and Industrial Policy… The participants included manufacturers of medical products.

In the summer of this year, especially for exporters in this industry, a business mission “Whole World” was held, which included manufacturers of rehabilitation aids for people with disabilities, medical equipment for emergency care, as well as other innovative and traditional medical products.

Moscow Export Center (MEC), subordinate to the Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development of the city of Moscow, also provides support to medical companies in the capital. Among the assistance measures – promotion at exhibitions, where the MEC finances the organization of a stand, negotiations, translation services. This year, the MEC is organizing the participation of exporters at the Medica international exhibition in Dusseldorf, where a joint Made in Moscow stand was opened to present the products of 20 medical companies.

In addition, business missions are conducted for the capital’s medical organizations. Thanks to them, one of the companies entered into a contract with Chinese partners for the supply of equipment for fitness diagnostics, and another company launched sales of equipment for air disinfection in Libya.

The Moscow Export Center can provide co-financing for the cost of participation of entrepreneurs in accelerators: according to the results of the GoGlobal program “Accelerator IIDF”, the manufacturer of orthodontic appliances – aligners – was able to enter the German markets.

Among the recipients of the IEC support are medical companies that are already supplying products abroad through e-commerce sites: one of them exports exoskeletons to Nigeria, and the other sells medical furniture to Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. They can get their premium account renewals for free on popular international marketplaces.
