As part of a working trip to Kazakhstan, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak and Alexey Overchuk met with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin.

The parties discussed key issues in the development of relations between the countries in the fuel and energy sector, including in the production and transportation of oil and natural gas, as well as in the power industry. They also discussed the opportunities for Russian companies to participate in the gasification of the northern and eastern regions of Kazakhstan.

Russian-Kazakh interaction in the fuel and energy sector is based on the principles of partnership and is developing steadily in bilateral and multilateral formats, Alexander Novak noted during the meeting. “The electric power systems of Russia and Kazakhstan operate in a synchronous mode, demonstrating high reliability. In many ways, our active cooperation is carried out along the lines of the CIS Electric Power Council, the Eurasian Economic Union, as well as in the oil sector – within the framework of OPEC +. We continue our close work both on the development of existing oil and new promising projects in the oil and gas sector, we are discussing the supply of not only primary energy resources, but also oil refining products to the republic, ”said the Deputy Prime Minister.

One of the priority directions of development in the energy relations of the two countries is becoming petrochemicals, including the development of projects for the production of polypropylene, polyethylene and other products, the interlocutors noted. According to Alexander Novak, the growth of gas chemical production and the corresponding growth of the LNG filling infrastructure will have a positive effect on the trade turnover of the two countries.
