Pilots of a separate shipborne fighter aviation regiment of the Northern Fleet completed training under the program of flights from the deck of an aircraft carrier at the Saki airfield in Crimea, where the ground engineering and technical aviation complex (NITKA) is located, imitating the deck of the heavy aircraft carrier “Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Kuznetsov”.

From October 9 to November 15, the Severomors worked 13 flight shifts and spent about 100 hours in the air. The pilots performed more than 1000 exercises on the NITKA simulator: passes over the deck, touches it with the released landing gear and hooks on the aircraft finisher cable.

Both young and experienced pilots were involved in flying on the simulator. Several pilots were prepared for deck landings. The commander of the fighter regiment of the Northern Fleet and his deputies confirmed the right to direct flights and train young pilots as instructors.

The training flights were carried out on combat and combat training fighters MiG-29K and MiG-29KUB.

Earlier (in August – September), pilots of the Northern Fleet’s fighter air regiment on Su-33 aircraft passed a similar training course for landing on an aircraft carrier on the NITKA simulator in Crimea.

The return of the North Sea pilots to the Kola Peninsula is planned at the end of the week.
