The government approved a unified list of regions of the Far North and equivalent areas to pay compensation and provide state guarantees to people living there. In terms of geography, the list has not changed, but it has become more structured. In addition, the new version corresponds to the modern municipal-territorial structure of the country.

In 1992-1994, various government agencies and authorities made numerous changes to the list of regions of the Far North and equivalent areas. The heterogeneity and lack of a clear structure of the list led to difficulties in law enforcement practice.

This week, by decree of the President, old regulations were abolished. In this regard, the Government approved a new list by its resolution.

Individual cities, urban districts, municipal districts and regions of the republics of Altai, Buryatia, Karelia, Komi, Tyva, Transbaikal, Krasnoyarsk, Khabarovsk, Perm, Primorsky Krai, Amur, Arkhangelsk, Irkutsk, Sakhalin, Tomsk, Tyumen regions, Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Yugra, as well as the entire territory of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Magadan, Murmansk regions, Nenets, Chukotka, Yamalo-Nenets autonomous okrugs and the entire Kamchatka Territory.

Residents of the territories included in the list will continue to receive state guarantees and compensations provided for by the law.

The presidential decree and the government decree are synchronized in time and will enter into force on January 1, 2022.

The document will be published.
