On November 16, at the Mitinskoye cemetery in Moscow, the memory of the legendary firefighter, deputy chairman of the central council of the All-Russian Voluntary Firefighting Society Viktor Klimkin was honored. The commemorative ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of EMERCOM of Russia Ilya Denisov, as well as colleagues, fire-fighting veterans and relatives.

Ilya Denisov shared his memories of working together with Viktor Ivanovich: “It so happened that my entire service in the Moscow garrison of the fire brigade passed under his leadership. He is the personification of the image of an officer, masculinity and professionalism. I will never forget how he taught me to put out fires, how to properly organize the work of combat areas, the work of water supply, and, most importantly, how to make the only right decisions. In addition to work processes, you could always turn to him for life advice. He was more our senior comrade than our boss. The name of Viktor Ivanovich is forever in our memory. “

During the commemorative ceremony, the wife of Viktor Klimkin was presented with a commemorative plaque, on which all his awards are presented, for storage and transmission from generation to generation within the family.

At the end of the event, relatives, colleagues and current employees laid flowers and wreaths at the tomb of the outstanding firefighter.

The entire life of Viktor Ivanovich is the path of a hero and an example of valiant service to his cause. Over the long years of service, he went from the assistant to the chief of staff for firefighting of the operational duty officer of the 1st brigade of the VPO of the Main Internal Affairs Directorate of the Moscow City Executive Committee to the Director of the Department of Supervision and Preventive Work of the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia. Thanks to his activities, large-scale projects for the development of firefighter volunteering have been implemented.

For 40 years of his life dedicated to the fire protection of Russia, under the leadership and direct participation of Viktor Klimkin, some of the most difficult fires that occurred in Moscow from 1996 to 2011, such as the fire in the Pressa publishing house on Pravdy Street, Ostankino TV tower, Izmailovsky opening day. In 2007 he was awarded the title of “Honorary Firefighter of Moscow”.

Klimkin was not only a “put out”, but also a first-class rescuer who participated in many rescue operations, including the collapse in the “Transvaal Park” and the Basmanny market.
