On November 17, in the city of Tashkent (Republic of Uzbekistan), a regular meeting of the Coordination Committee of Metrological Services of the Armed Forces of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States (hereinafter – the Coordination Committee, CIS) was held.
Delegations of the Ministries of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of the Secretariat of the Council of Defense Ministers of the CIS member states and the base organization of the Commonwealth states in the field of research of problems of military metrology and metrological support of the armed forces.
During the meeting, issues were considered on the verification of reference standards and measuring instruments, training and advanced training of metrology specialists in the interests of the defense departments of the Commonwealth states.
A key place in the work of the Coordinating Committee was taken by the issue of the Program of joint work to improve the metrological support of the armed forces of the CIS member states for the period up to 2025, which defines the priority areas of activity for the medium term:
coordination of work in the field of metrological support for the development, production, testing, operation and disposal of weapons and military equipment;
organization of interaction in the development of standards and systems for the transfer of units of quantities in the armed forces of the CIS member states;
establishment of harmonized requirements for metrological support of the armed forces of the CIS member states;
formation, storage and maintenance of a fund of regulatory documents.
At the same time, the meeting participants noted the need to improve the work on analyzing the possibility of calibrating measuring instruments in metrological military units (organizations) of the armed forces of the CIS member states.
In general, the decisions made at the meeting of the Coordination Committee are aimed at developing a system of multilateral military cooperation in the field of metrological support of the armed forces of the CIS member states, taking into account common and national interests.
