For the first time, the crews of the Mi-8AMTSh-V transport and assault helicopters of the Central Military District (CVO) will use night vision goggles (NVG) at the exercise that started today in the mountainous regions of Tuva (Western Sayan).

During the exercise, pilots wearing night vision goggles will practice landing and take-off from unprepared mountain sites located at altitudes of over three kilometers, and will also perform flights over difficult terrain, bending around mountain slopes, passing gorges. At night, the pilots will use night vision goggles GEO-ONV-1, while external signals and internal lighting are prohibited to identify the “enemy” unmasking signs.

The exercise involved up to 10 Mi-8AMTSh-V helicopters and more than 100 military personnel from among the flight and engineering personnel, as well as specialists from the search and rescue and parachute services.
