In the guards training center for junior specialists of the Western Military District (ZVO) in the Leningrad Region, more than 1000 gunners-operators of T-72 tanks, as part of the final examinations, completed the exercises of control firing with live projectiles at emerging and moving targets.

The military personnel of the district training center took exams after four months of training. More than 1000 tankers in the daytime and at night fired at targets simulating enemy manpower and armored vehicles located at a distance of 500 to 1800 m. For three minutes they fired at targets with an average tank speed of about five kilometers per hour out of 125 mm of tank guns and 7.62 mm PKT machine guns. The order of appearance of targets was divided into three options that were not known to the crews prior to the start of the exercise.

Successful passing of the exam allowed junior specialists to continue serving in the tank divisions of the Western Military District.
