Order of November 16, 2021 No. 3207-r

More than 1.6 billion rubles will be allocated from the federal budget for the construction of a scientific and technological center for breeding, grape nursery and winemaking in Crimea. The order was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

The center is being created in Yalta on the basis of the All-Russian National Research Institute of Viticulture and Winemaking “Magarach”. The new division will include scientific laboratories, a center for experimental biotechnology, special rooms for growing seedlings and storing vines, lecture and tasting rooms, as well as a wine storage and an enoteca. The total area of the building will be more than 18 thousand square meters. m. The opening is scheduled for 2025.

In total, more than 3.2 billion rubles will be allocated for the construction of the center, taking into account additional funds. Additional funding was required in connection with the adjustment of the project documentation. Due to the cramped construction conditions, mountainous terrain and difficult soils, it became necessary to erect pile foundations, retaining walls and retaining structures, which affected the cost of the work. In addition, the project has increased the length of engineering networks that will provide the building with water, gas and electricity.

Institute of Viticulture and Winemaking “Magarach” is one of the oldest domestic scientific centers of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It was founded by decree of Nicholas I in 1828 for the development of horticulture and winemaking. Since then, “Magarach” has provided all aspects of the industry – from growing grapes to producing wine products. The Institute also conducts educational activities – it conducts postgraduate and doctoral studies, organizes refresher courses for specialists in the field of viticulture and winemaking.
