A significant event in the field of penitentiary science, uniting leading scientists and practitioners, started on the site of the Academy of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia on November 17. This is a good opportunity to exchange experience, study the international practice of the prison departments, discuss key problems and try to find joint solutions to them.

The events of the forum are held with the participation of representatives of the State Duma, the Council under the President of the Russian Federation for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights, the Ministry of Justice and the Public Chamber, the Office of the Ombudsman for Human Rights in the Russian Federation and the government of the Ryazan Region.

The forum was opened by the director of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia Alexander Kalashnikov. He noted that the forum is the largest Russian scientific event for specialists working in the field of the execution of criminal sentences, which attracts the attention of leading experts – penitentiaries from Russian regions and foreign countries.

“Holding the forum is an opportunity to exchange experience with foreign colleagues, to tell each other about the achievements in production, in scientific activity, medical support, in improving the content of convicts,” said Alexander Kalashnikov.

Special attention in the agenda of the event is paid to the implementation of the provisions of the Concept for the development of the penal system of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2030. Discussion platforms will discuss various aspects of the activities of the penitentiary service, optimization of personnel training, issues of improving interstate cooperation.

The special interest of the participants and guests of the event was aroused by a special exhibition of achievements, which presented scientific developments, as well as samples of products from institutions of the UIS. The most striking object of the exhibition was the android robot Irina, which in the future can be used to conduct a survey, formalized interview or psychological testing.

During the work of the penitentiary forum from 17 to 19 November, official recommendations will be adopted, which will form the basis for improving the activities of the domestic penal system.
