The scientist and poet was born in the Petrine era, and the most fruitful period of his activity came during the reign of Elizabeth Petrovna.
Main Archive of Moscow presented documents about the life, creative and scientific heritage of Mikhail Lomonosov. November 19 marks the 310th anniversary of his birth.
They wrote books and poems about Lomonosov, created his pictorial and sculptural portraits. He was a multifaceted personality – a poet, physicist, chemist, astronomer, metallurgist and mining specialist, historian and philologist.
Mikhail Lomonosov was born in the Petrine era, and the most fruitful period of his career came during the reign of Elizabeth Petrovna. He was the son of a simple Arkhangelsk peasant-Pomor, and became a scientist-academician. The life path and discoveries of Lomonosov have inspired researchers, poets and prose writers for many years.
An example of courage and hard work
The fund of literary critic and writer Sergei Andreev-Krivich preserved works dedicated to the biography of the scientist: “Peasant son Mikhailo Lomonosov” and “Maybe his own Platons …” Petrovna “. These books were published in the 1960s for a wide range of readers, and especially for those who were just choosing their own path. After all, the biography of a scientist is an example of courage, resourcefulness and diligence. Among such important books is the edition of the poem by Alexei Markov “Mikhailo Lomonosov” preserved in the fund of the translator Lev Ozerov.
Articles reflecting on Lomonosov and his contribution to the development of Russian natural science are kept in the fund of the philosopher Vasily Bogatov. The collection of art critic Vladimir Moskvinov contains materials dedicated to the sculptor Fedot Shubin, who made sculptural portraits of his contemporaries – important dignitaries of the 18th century. One of his most famous works is a sculptural portrait of his famous compatriot and friend Mikhail Lomonosov.
Also preserved are studies on the first Russian natural scientist and in the personal fund of the geographer and local historian Valentin Rakhilin.
