On November 19, specialists of the missile and artillery weapons of the Northern Fleet celebrate their professional holiday – the Day of the Missile Forces and Artillery.

On the eve of this memorable date, the crew of the frigate “Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Gorshkov” successfully performed another test firing of the Zircon sea-based hypersonic cruise missile, and the calculations of the anti-ship coastal missile systems “Bastion” and “Ball” of a separate coastal missile and artillery brigade of the Kola flotilla Forces of the Northern Fleet conducted planned training sessions with simulated missile strikes against enemy surface ships when deployed from a march.

At the end of 2021, the brigade was recognized as the best coastal formation of the Northern Fleet. In the summer and early autumn, her servicemen took part in several naval exercises in the defense of the Kola Peninsula and successfully performed practical target shooting in the Barents Sea.

The effective development of combat exercises was facilitated by the constant training of combat crews in their specialty and classes at the training complex, where, using computer modeling of the real situation, military personnel acquire the necessary skills for detecting surface targets, issuing target designations and preparing complexes for launching missile strikes in various conditions.

The Bal and Bastion coastal missile systems form the backbone of the Northern Fleet’s coastal missile and artillery forces. They ensure the defeat of group and single sea targets at short and long range, up to several hundred kilometers, depending on the type of cruise missile.
