Servicemen of the engineering company of the Southern Military District (YuVO) have cleared of explosive ordnance (EPO) about 350 hectares of agricultural land on the territory of Chechnya, exceeding the planned volume of work by 15%.

Demining of agricultural land and forest lands in the Achkhoy-Martanovsky region and on the territory of the Achkhoy-Martanovsky forestry will be completed at the end of November.

Sappers found and destroyed about 600 ammunition. The personnel performed tasks in protective suits of the OVR-2 “Sokol” sapper. For demining, the servicemen used BMR-M armored demining vehicles based on the T-72 tank with a track mine sweep, IMR-2 engineering barrage vehicles, Korshun non-contact explosive device seekers, Uran-6 robotic systems equipped with several types of trawls for operation with different types of soil. Also, specialists from the mine detection service with specially trained mine detection dogs were involved in the work.

The engineers of the Southern Military District began work on demining and the complete cleaning of the area of ​​Chechnya and Ingushetia from explosives in May 2012. In total, it was planned to clear about 16 thousand hectares of agricultural land and forestry, but over 9 years, the military surveyed about 24 thousand hectares, discovering and destroying more than 41 thousand explosive objects (mines, shells, grenades and other ammunition, as well as improvised explosive devices).
