Servicemen of the missile forces and artillery units of the Caspian Flotilla celebrate their professional holiday. The new generation of missilemen and artillerymen of the flotilla is the crews of naval missile and artillery combat units (BCH-2), servicemen of artillery and missile coastal batteries and battalions, as well as specialists of ground services associated with the maintenance and use of missile and artillery weapons.
At present, the missile troops and artillery in the Caspian flotilla are equipped with modern weapons. The planned provision of formations, units and subunits of missile forces and artillery with highly efficient automated command and control and reconnaissance systems, as well as modernized and promising missile and artillery systems, means of comprehensive support and protection is being carried out. The use of automated controls reduces the duration of control cycles by 5 times, increases the completeness and relevance of information about the enemy by 4 times, and increases the damage done to the enemy by 2.5 times. Measures are being taken to qualitatively improve the structure, combat strength and number of missile forces and artillery of the flotilla.
Also, the artillerymen and missilemen of the flotilla perform combat training missions as part of the crews of the missile ships “Tatarstan”, “Dagestan”, small missile ships “Veliky Ustyug”, “Uglich”, “Grad Sviyazhsk”, small artillery ships “Makhachkala”, “Astrakhan” and Volgodonsk. In the course of combat training activities, tactical exercises with missile launches and practice firing at air and sea targets are regularly conducted with the crews of warships. During the exercise in 2021, the crews of the flotilla’s warships fired over 500 artillery and rocket fires at various types of targets simulating air attack weapons and enemy warships.
In the fall of 2021, all the missile and artillery units of the flotilla involved in the final command post exercise showed a high level of training and professionalism in performing live artillery firing and successfully completed the assigned tasks.
To improve the professional skills of missile and artillery officers, various forms and methods of training are used, including competitions for commanders of artillery batteries, competitions for the best solution of shooting and fire control tasks, training in combat work on equipment as part of officer crews, and individual assignments.
In the 2021 academic year, more than 100 tactical and tactical-special exercises of artillery batteries and battalions using cannon artillery, mortars and multiple launch rocket systems were conducted with servicemen of the rocket forces and artillery of the flotilla. Officers and sergeants completed about 2 thousand credible fire missions with live firing. In total, about 10 thousand shells and mines were spent on the combat training of the units of the rocket forces and artillery of the flotilla during the year.
