Moscow central diameters have become an alternative to the metro for many.
In two years, the Moscow Central Diameters (MCD) have become an irreplaceable part of the transport framework of the capital, and for many residents – a full-fledged alternative to the metro. At the same time, Muscovites are increasingly using the MCD specifically for trips around the city, said the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport Maxim Liksutov.
“With the launch of the MCD, the perception of the railway has changed dramatically: it has become not only a suburban, but also an intracity transport. A couple of years ago, Muscovites almost did not use the railway to travel around the city, but everything changed dramatically when an overground metro appeared with a clock train at the price of The Troika card has become available for payment of travel. Two years WDC
Moscow central diameters appeared two years ago and during this time have become very popular among the residents of the capital. The overground metro connected Moscow with the region. The first to open were MCD-1 “Belorussko-Savelovsky” (Odintsovo – Lobnya) and MCD-2 “Kursk-Rizhsky” (Nakhabino – Podolsk). They were created on the basis of the already existing suburban railway infrastructure, the modernization of outdated tracks and stations began, which began to turn into modern stations with turnstiles, ticket offices, escalators, elevators, toilets and information boards.
Convenient transfers to the metro, the MCC and other types of transport have appeared. They also launched a new generation of trains, introduced a ticket system, services and navigation that was unified with the metro and the Moscow Central Circle.
Now they are building and designing MCD-3 “Leningradsko-Kazansky” (from Zelenograd to Ramenskoye), MCD-4 “Kievsko-Gorkovsky” (from Aprelevka to Zheleznodorozhny) and MCD-5 “Yaroslavsko-Paveletsky” (via Pushkino and Domodedovo).
