In a specialized unit of the military police of the Eastern Military District (VVO), stationed in the Trans-Baikal Territory, military dog handlers began training with guard dogs to prepare them for the protection of military facilities.

Servicemen teach their pets how to execute service commands, overcome obstacles, as well as actions when an intruder enters guarded objects, while simultaneously developing skills to protect the owner.

The dogs were delivered to the unit earlier from the training center of the service dog breeding of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. Guard dogs are represented by the Rottweiler, Central Asian and Caucasian Shepherd Dogs. Upon their arrival at the military unit, a counselor was assigned to each dog, who was engaged in their maintenance and daily training at the canine training complex of the compound.

A dog training camp has been equipped for keeping dogs, spacious enclosures have been built. Each pet is provided with a collar, leash, muzzle and hairbrush. Every day 600 g of cereals, 400 g of meat and 300 g of vegetables are allocated for the nutrition of dogs.

Now dog handlers reinforce the skills that discipline dogs, including the execution of service commands. During the training, the issues of arresting and escorting the offender, refusal of food offered or thrown by strangers are also practiced.

Guard dogs will be used both at stationary guard posts and in a free guard. At night and in difficult weather conditions, when visibility is limited, the dog senses the approach of a person at a distance and will warn the guard in advance.

After completing the training course and finally getting used to the counselor, the dogs will be posted to guard posts to guard military facilities.
