In the Center for Coordination of Medical Support of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation at the S.M. Kirov Military Medical Academy in St. Petersburg, an urgent telemedicine consultation was held in real time, which became the 1500th this year.

The Center received a request from specialists from the Volgograd military hospital. The patient has been diagnosed with COVID-19.

The council was chaired by the head of the Center for Telemedicine Consultations, Colonel of the Medical Service Andrei Leonidov.

The consultants were: Senior Lecturer of the Department of Infectious Diseases, Lieutenant Colonel of the Medical Service Dmitry Mikhailovich Shakhmanov and Senior Lecturer of the 1st Department (advanced therapy for doctors), Lieutenant Colonel of the Medical Service Bogomolov Aleksey Borisovich.

The academy specialists got acquainted in detail with the history of the disease. They were remotely presented with the data of objective studies, which made it possible, directly during the consultation, to correct the diagnosis and tactics of managing the patient by doctors, as well as to give recommendations and plan repeated consultations to monitor the results of the prescribed treatment.

For reference. In accordance with the Order of the Chief of the Main Military Medical Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Vyacheslavovich Trishkin, on the basis of the Center, a “Remote Consulting Center for Anesthesiology and Reanimatology for Servicemen on the Diagnostics and Treatment of an Infectious Disease Caused by the COVID-19 Strain Coronavirus” was organized.

In 2020-2021, using the remote telemedicine consultation system, more than 300 consultations were held for patients with a new coronavirus infection.
