In the Tver Region, the air regiment of the military transport aviation for conscripts hosted the premiere of the Russian feature film “Sky”. The film was shot with the support of the Russian Ministry of Defense, based on a real story about the death of Russian pilot Lieutenant Colonel Oleg Peshkov.

The film tells about two main characters – Lieutenant Colonel Oleg Soshnikov and Captain Konstantin Muravyov. The film is based on real events on November 24, 2015, during a combat mission on the Syrian-Turkish border, a Russian Su-24 was shot down by a Turkish fighter jet. The crew managed to eject. The crew’s navigator was rescued, and Oleg Peshkov was shot by militants in the air. Lieutenant Colonel Oleg Peshkov was awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Federation posthumously, and Konstantin Murakhtin was awarded the Order of Courage.

Major Konstantin Murakhtin, as well as experts from the Ministry of Defense, became consultants in the filming of this motion picture. All images of the main characters, as well as the environment, are rendered with high accuracy. Filming took place both in Russia and at an active military base in Syria. The film crew reconstructed the entire history of the events of 2015, having visited the place of the death of Oleg Peshkov, at the place where the plane lay.

This motion picture is a rarity for modern Russian cinema. This is the first film in the country that tells about the events in Syria with such precision. After watching the film, all the servicemen were impressed, noting that the film turned out to be completely realistic.
