Engineering units of the Guards Tank Army of the Western Military District (ZVO) in the summer training period led more than 80 km. pontoon crossings over water obstacles both in the framework of exercises at various levels, and to help residents of different regions.

Military engineers completed over 40 missions using amphibious assault vehicles, including PTS-2 amphibious transporters. In addition, in the summer period of training in the event of flood situations, servicemen worked out the standards for the evacuation of the population using towing motor boats.

The personnel dumped the pontoon links into the water and assembled them into transportable ferries with a carrying capacity of 60 and 170 tons, a width of 7 meters and a length of 20 to 60 meters, respectively.

With the help of the created ferries and tugboats BMK-460, specialists ensured the crossing of the river for wheeled and tracked vehicles, as well as for the civilian population in various regions of the Russian Federation.

In total, more than 3 thousand servicemen were involved in the training, about 300 units of special and automotive equipment were involved, including tugboats BMK-460, floating conveyors PTS-2 and river links with cars.
