The crews of the Mi-8AMTSh-V transport and combat helicopters of the Central Military District (TsVO) completed about 10 combat training missions as part of the first night tactical flight exercise at a mountain range in the Republic of Tuva.

During the combat training event, helicopter crews made more than 50 night flights. The pilots performed maneuvering and overcoming mountain ranges at night using GEO-ONV-1 night vision goggles. In addition, the flight personnel of the army aviation units worked out the covert transfer of tactical assault forces with landing on unmarked mountain areas and performed elements of combat maneuvering in mountain gorges at an altitude of more than 3 thousand meters.

Exercises in the Republic of Tyva became possible after the use of the airfield in Kyzyl began. It has all the necessary infrastructure for regular training flights and tactical flight exercises in mountainous terrain, day and night, without additional support for the flight process, and makes it possible to increase the intensity of training and increase the number of crews involved at the same time.

The night tactical flight exercise involved 10 Mi-8 helicopters and about 100 military personnel from among the flight, engineering and technical personnel, the flight support and control group, as well as specialists from the search and rescue and parachute service.
