The volume of trade between Russia and Switzerland increased in January-September 2021 by 11.2% and reached $ 4.4 billion, according to a press release from the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation following a meeting of the Russian-Swiss intergovernmental commission.

“The positive dynamics of bilateral relations is also reflected in statistics: following the results of nine months, there is a recovery in trade volumes. Trade with Switzerland increased by 11.2% and amounted to $ 4.4 billion,” the statement said.

It notes that Switzerland ranks eighth among foreign investors in the Russian economy. Nestle, ABB, Tetra Pak, LafargeHolcim, Roche, Novartis have been successfully operating in the Russian market for many years and are planning to expand their investment presence.

During the meeting of the intergovernmental commission, Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov and Swiss Federal Financial Adviser Uli Maurer signed a protocol on amending the intergovernmental agreement on the mutual recognition of official brands on watchmaking products made of precious metals.

In the intersessional period, Russia and Switzerland developed and prepared for signing a memorandum of understanding in the field of agriculture. The agreement on an action plan in the field of economic cooperation is nearing completion.
