At the branch of the Military Academy of Logistics
in the city of Volsk during the winter examination session of the academic year, subject Olympiads in academic disciplines are traditionally held. One of the first was the Olympiad in cultural studies.
It was organized by the department of humanitarian and socio-economic disciplines for the cadets of the branch – experts in cultural studies. The participating teams demonstrated their knowledge in ten tests.
Given the multi-confessional nature of Russian culture, the organizers asked the cadets questions related to
structural and logical schemes for religious studies, where it was required to recall world religions, their chapters, holy books and places of worship.
The competition “Cultural Centers of the World” was held fascinatingly,
where the participants had to learn about the city in question from the picture and leading questions. Cadets “translated” into Russian
20 culturological concepts during the “Synonyms” competition, and also showed excellent knowledge and erudition in the “Cultural Logic” competition, where they were shown four different illustrations, united by a single concept.
During the “Crossword” competition, the participants of the Olympiad were asked to recall the name of the writer, in whose works the word “culture” first appeared, the Russian monumental sculptor, author of the monument to Lomonosov in Arkhangelsk, or the name of painting on wet plaster.
During the “Etiquette” competition, cadets flashed their knowledge
on the placement of cutlery and the correct placement of elements of military uniforms.
The “Film, Film, Film …” competition showed that our youth remembers war songs and films of the 20th century. The cadets remembered not only their names, but also the winged words, phrases uttered by the heroes.
These and other contests of the Olympiad showed that the cadets have a wide outlook, they are attracted by additional knowledge and educational information.
