During a video conference with the head of the PRC’s military department, Colonel-General Wei Fenghe, Russian Defense Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu said that the intergovernmental agreement between Russia and China on notifications of launches of ballistic missiles and space launch vehicles is being extended.

“Taking this opportunity, I would like to inform you that we have completed the domestic procedures necessary for the entry into force of the protocol on the extension of the term of the Russian-Chinese intergovernmental agreement on notifications of launches of ballistic missiles and space carrier rockets dated October 13, 2009,” the general said army Sergei Shoigu.

According to him, this step will contribute to the continuation of bilateral cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as the strengthening of mutual trust between the countries in the military field. In addition, the fact of the extension of this agreement indicates a high level of trust between the Russian Federation and the PRC.

The protocol was signed on December 15, 2020 in Moscow and Beijing during a video conference of the heads of the military departments of the two countries.
