At a video conference held between the Minister of Defense of Russia, General of the Army Sergei Shoigu, and the head of the Chinese military department, Colonel General Wei Fenghe, the parties agreed to increase interaction between the armed forces of the two countries through strategic military exercises and joint patrols.

The heads of the military departments stressed the inviolability of friendship and the strength of ties between Russia and China. They reaffirmed their readiness to implement the agreements reached at the highest level and to expand contacts between the defense ministries of the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China.

The main topic of the talks was the summing up of the results of the joint maritime and air patrols in the Asia-Pacific region held this year.

This year, Russian-Chinese military cooperation in all areas has been steadily deepening. The interaction of the armed forces of the two states in the field of organizing combat training events has received noticeable development.

The negotiations were also attended by: from the Russian side, the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov and the Commander-in-Chief of the Aerospace Forces Sergey Surovikin, from the Chinese side, the Commander of the Navy, Admiral Dong Jun and the Commander of the Air Force, Colonel-General Chang Dingqiu.
