In Tehran (Iran), classic wrestlers entered the fight for the awards of the 35th International Council of Military Sports (CISM) World Championship in wrestling. The athletes of the national team of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation brought five awards in Greco-Roman wrestling.

Private Shamil Ozhaev, representing the Central Military District, became the world champion among military personnel in the weight category up to 82 kg.

Another gold award was brought to the collection of the Russian Armed Forces national team by the serviceman of the Central Military District, corporal Alexander Golovin, having won the competition in the weight category up to 97 kg.

Private army athlete Stepan Maryanyan won a silver medal in the weight category up to 63 kg.

Another “silver” to the Russian team was brought by private Stanislav Zaitsev (CVO), who became the second in the weight category up to 72 kg.

The bronze medal of the World Championship among military personnel was won by the representative of the Central Military District, Private Viktor Vedernikov.

In total, 76 Greco-Roman style wrestlers from 12 countries take part in the tournament.

The 35th World Military Wrestling Championship will end on November 26.
