Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko greeted the participants of the IV International Scientific Forum “Step into the Future: Artificial Intelligence and the Digital Economy”. Dmitry Chernyshenko noted that the forum participants will have to find and discuss new points of growth on the way to achieving the national goal of “Digital Transformation” set by President Vladimir Putin.
“This year the forum brought together over 2 thousand leading Russian and foreign scientists, experts in the field of digitalization, artificial intelligence and green economy. Its leading theme – “Technological Leadership” – corresponds to the strategic task of the scientific and technological development of Russia. At the moment, the Government has already launched seven specialized federal projects. Within their framework, in October, they completed the selection of six reference research centers in priority areas for the introduction of artificial intelligence. This will create world-class breakthrough technologies and develop new unique competencies. Until the end of 2024, about 8 billion rubles have been allocated to finance the centers, of which 2.5 billion are extra-budgetary funding, ”said Dmitry Chernyshenko.
The Deputy Prime Minister also drew attention to the importance of interaction between digital transformation experts, scientific institutes and higher education. And the attraction of young scientists and students to the forum contributes to the popularization of scientific research aimed at improving the quality of life and increasing the competitiveness of the economy.
“The Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, which hosts the forum, implements significant research projects related to digitalization and artificial intelligence. He is also at the forefront of the training challenge. I would like to note that on behalf of President Vladimir Putin, Russian universities have increased the number of budget-funded places by more than 7 thousand in areas related to the development and development of artificial intelligence technologies. In addition, within the framework of the Artificial Intelligence federal project, by 2024, universities will have 10 bachelor’s and 40 master’s programs in AI. 97 thousand schoolchildren will be trained under secondary education programs in the field of artificial intelligence, ”said the Deputy Prime Minister.
Dmitry Chernyshenko added that by 2024 the number of students and trained in IT specialties in the country will reach half a million people.
