In November, at the Military Institute (Engineering and Technical) of the Military Academy of Logistics named after General of the Army A.V. Khrulev in St. Petersburg, a set of events “Suvorov Readings” is being implemented, dedicated to the memory of Generalissimo Alexander Suvorov.

Throughout the month, the staff of the institute actively visited the A.V. Suvorov. During this time, the servicemen were able to immerse themselves in the history of the activities of the greatest commander of the 18th century. We learned how to arm the infantry and cavalry, looked at models with the most famous campaigns from the Seven Years’ War to the wars with revolutionary France, figured out how to fire a flintlock gun and assessed the severity of the “soldier’s strap” in the Russian army of Suvorov’s time.

On November 24, on the day of the 291st anniversary of the birth of the great Russian commander, under the leadership of the deputy chief of the VI (IT) for military-political work, Colonel Alexei Kapinus, the officers visited the burial place of the outstanding military leader in the Annunciation burial vault of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, where the assistant to the head of the institute (for work with believing servicemen) Priest Yevgeny Tsiklauri performed a requiem at the grave of A.V. Suvorov. After the service, the personnel paid tribute to the memory and laid flowers at the grave of the great Russian commander.

On the same morning, students of the faculty of the National Guard, in the presence of the head of the faculty, Colonel Vladimir Korobanov, attended a service in the home church of St. Ignatius (Brianchaninov), where they lit candles for the repose of the soldier Alexander Suvorov.

The very burial of the Generalissimo also emphasizes the quality of the warrior’s lifetime – modesty: no gold, no boasting, just a simple bust under bent banners with the inscription: “Here lies Suvorov!”

Generalissimo Alexander Vasilyevich Suvorov – the founder of Russian military theory, innovator and reformer of military strategy and tactics, personifies the invincible Russian spirit, ingenuity and will to victory. A holder of all Russian orders of his time, in his entire career as a commander, he did not lose a single battle, repeatedly defeated the enemy’s forces that were significantly outnumbered. Known for his concern for the soldiers, including his involvement in the development of a new practical field uniform.
