Servicemen of the International Mine Action Center of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation arrived for humanitarian demining in the Nakai region of the Khammuan province of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR).
In the area where the Russian servicemen, together with their Laotian colleagues, are to carry out mine clearance, the opening ceremony was held, which was attended by representatives of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, the Chief of the General Staff of the Lao People’s Army, the governor of the province, as well as the military attaché at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Lao PDR …
During the event, the commander of the demining detachment of the International Mine Action Center of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation identified areas of the terrain for cleaning from explosive objects.
Russian sappers will have to carry out demining tasks both in the jungle and in settlements where the local residents are still threatened by unexploded ordnance of half a century ago.
To carry out the tasks, the detachment is equipped with modern means of searching for explosive objects (selective portable induction mine detectors IMP-S2, magnetometric bomb detectors MBI-P2, depth mine detectors MG-1I, portable detectors for non-contact explosive devices INVU-3M) and personal protection of a sapper OVR-2-02, equipped with a cooling system.
In accordance with the decision of the President of the Russian Federation, to assist in the demining of the territory in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation sent a demining detachment of the International Mine Action Center of the RF Armed Forces in the amount of 31 servicemen.
