A training center, a warehouse and a gas storage facility are being built from innovative flexible sandwich panels in the Arctic.

Special economic zone (SEZ) company Technopolis Moscowhas developed a new material for the rapid construction of reliable buildings in the harsh natural conditions of the Arctic.

The novelty is called “flexible sandwich”. These are panels consisting of two awning layers with insulation in the middle. They are distinguished from other sandwich panels by the use of PVC material, which ensures tightness and waterproofing, and large sizes. One panel can cover an area of up to 200 square meters.

“The development has successfully passed all tests and is already being applied in practice. In the Arctic, a training center building, warehouse and storage facility are being built for a project for the production of liquefied natural gas from a “flexible sandwich”. The Moscow Technopolis Moscow company has already supplied 17 thousand square meters of innovative material to the Far North, ”said the head

Department of Investment and Industrial Policy of Moscow Alexander Prokhorov

The “flexible sandwich” is the own invention of a metropolitan manufacturer. The company is currently at the final stage of obtaining a patent. Construction with the use of innovative materials makes it possible to quickly erect objects of varying degrees of complexity in the most severe natural conditions. For example, in the Arctic, the thermometer can drop below minus 50 degrees Celsius, and strong winds are also characteristic of this region. At the same time, the new material is on average 30 percent cheaper than metal sandwich panels and is easier to install. The panels are delivered to the assembly site ready-made, which allows you to minimize the number of assembly operations, that is, save time.

The development company has been located at the Alabushevo site of the Moscow Technopolis since 2020. She rents premises with a total area of about one thousand square meters. They have a design bureau and a construction and engineering organization.

Following the results of 10 months of 2021, the company produced about 40 thousand square meters of innovative panels.

According to Gennady Degtev, General Director of the Technopolis Moscow SEZ, the company has a strong innovative potential, which distinguishes most of the enterprises of the special economic zone. Many residents and businesses operating in Technopolis offer solutions for the construction industry, from composite bridge fences to wastewater treatment equipment.

The Technopolis Moscow Special Economic Zone includes five sites with a total area of 223.3 hectares. One of them is located in Pechatniki, four in Zelenograd (Alabushevo, Mikron, MIET, Angstrem).
