In accordance with the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and the instructions of the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, General of the Army Sergei Shoigu, the mixed aviation regiment of the Central Military District (CVO), stationed in the Chelyabinsk region, transferred an additional 3 tons of liquefied oxygen to medical institutions of the Chelyabinsk region for the treatment of patients with COVID- 19. In total, during the pandemic, the Chelyabinsk Aviation Regiment provided medical institutions with 15 tons of oxygen.

Liquefied medical oxygen is produced by automobile oxygen-producing stations designed to obtain medical-grade liquid and gaseous oxygen from atmospheric air in the field. This oxygen is used in on-board systems of aviation complexes in the oxygen system of an aircraft designed to maintain normal crew life, including during high-altitude flights and ejection.

The provision of liquefied oxygen to medical organizations of civil health is carried out without prejudice to the combat readiness of the aviation units of the Central Military District.

The Central Military District is deployed on the territory of the Volga, Ural and Siberian federal districts and 29 constituent entities of Russia. The district structurally includes several foreign objects: Russian military bases on the territory of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, as well as units on the territory of Kazakhstan. The headquarters is located in Yekaterinburg.
