For the regional registry office, the wedding was the 674th this year, but for a regime institution – the first in its history.

The section at correctional colony No. 3, functioning as a repair center, opened three years ago. The institution is designed for the maintenance of 56 prisoners to forced labor; 40 men and 16 women can live in a three-story building at the same time.

Since the center does not yet have a long history, some of the events are predictably the first for it – as, indeed, for the entire penitentiary system of Mari El. For example, on November 19, for the first time, a marriage was concluded between prisoners sentenced to forced labor, who are serving their sentences in the Medvedev correctional center. The wedding, as expected, took place at the regional registry office, the bride and groom exchanged wedding rings and received congratulations from the guests of the event.

Ivan and Alexandra met in the correctional center. Both work as storekeepers at the same Yoshkar-Ola enterprise, the management of which willingly went to meet the newlyweds, giving them several days off and even giving them a gift from the entire team.
