Mikhail Mishustin at a meeting on the development of the healthcare system

The government, together with the scientific, medical community and experts, will develop new approaches for the further development of the health care system. It must become modern and efficient in order to fully meet the needs of citizens. This task was set by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin at a meeting dedicated to the development of the healthcare system.

The situation with the coronavirus has demonstrated the advantages and disadvantages that exist in our healthcare, the head of Government noted.

On the one hand, it has accelerated the implementation of many solutions, including the development of vaccines and systems for diagnosing a new infection, and the production of medical equipment. Modern technologies began to be used more actively, new methods of treatment were introduced.

On the other hand, the areas that need to be given special attention have clearly emerged. First of all, we are talking about the fact that the available resources of the health care system are insufficient. New approaches to the organization of its work are required.

According to Mikhail Mishustin, this applies to primary health care, medical care, which is provided in stationary conditions, and the work of an ambulance.

“It is necessary to identify measures that will increase the availability and quality of healthcare services for citizens. This is our key priority, ”said the Prime Minister.

The President instructed to ensure sustainable population growth by 2030. The conditions for this task are extremely difficult. The spread of the coronavirus significantly affects the achievement of these indicators and the pace of measures being implemented, the Government admits.

“We already need to have a clear action plan that will not only return demographic indicators to pre-pandemic values, but also ensure further growth in the number of citizens of our country and life expectancy,” emphasized Mikhail Mishustin.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Ministers Tatyana Golikova, Dmitry Grigorenko, Dmitry Chernyshenko, Head of the Ministry of Health Mikhail Murashko, Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov, Minister of Finance Anton Siluanov, Head of the Ministry of Digital Industry Maksut Shadayev, Mayor of Moscow Sergei Sobyanin, heads of regions, as well as business representatives, scientific and medical community.
