The best developers were selected in six nominations. A total of 65 applications were received for the Climate Development Leader competition.
The winners of the Climate Development Leader competition have been announced in the capital. Environmental and climate projects already implemented in Russia received awards in six nominations.
“Moscow’s achievements are impossible without the participation of citizens – scientists, students, schoolchildren, activists of the environmental movement. You give us ideas, suggest solutions that our services implement. This year, we received more than 60 applications for participation in the competition, “said the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing and Utilities and Improvement
In the category “Environment and Business” the winner was the work “Environmental Projects of Samsung Companies in Russia”. This project aims to protect the environment and support the cyclical economy (in particular, collection and disposal of electronic waste).
The victory in the category “Ecology and Society” was given to the non-profit partnership “And all for one”. This organization presented projects of a web navigator and a mobile application with an integrated loyalty program, which contain social and environmental services and offers.
The project of the educational course “Calculation, optimization and compensation of greenhouse gas emissions according to the best international practices” from the HPBS company won in the “Environment and Information” nomination.
In the nomination “Ecology and Innovations” the victory was awarded to the Center for Training and Professional Retraining “Energy Management and Energy Saving Technologies” of the National Research University “MPEI”. The specialists managed to develop a program that determines the ecological and energy contribution of energy-saving technologies. The service is based on an integral index of building energy systems, taking into account efficiency and reliability indicators.
The project “Two miles from Moscow” (from JSC “Mosgiprotrans”) won in the category “Ecology and City”. The work is aimed at creating a pedestrian historical and cultural route from the milestone of 1783 with the preserved inscription: “Two miles from Moscow” to the Kursk railway station.
School No. 922 won the “Ecology and Children” nomination. Its students developed the project “Do-it-yourself ecobags – a small step towards a world without garbage”. Schoolchildren are striving to reduce the number of plastic bags they use and to make DIY cloth bags popular.
The Climate Development Leader competition has been held since 2017. Its goal is to find and popularize the best environmental projects in the field of conservation of resources and natural heritage, environmental education, creating an environmentally friendly urban environment and the development of new technologies. This year, 65 applications were submitted for the competition.
As part of this year’s events, the Moscow Government and the Center for Strategic Research Foundation signed an Agreement, according to which Moscow is now a member of the Association of Russian Regions for Climate. The capital will take part in identifying, disseminating and promoting the implementation of best climate practices and projects. The agreement is aimed at cooperation in the development of climate regulation, creating conditions for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Moscow is already actively participating in international environmental organizations; the capital’s fight against climate change is highly regarded at the world level. Thus, Moscow is included in the list of 30 best capitals in terms of air quality in the world ranking. for 2020as well as in list of cities category A of the rating of the authoritative international organization Carbon Disclosure Project.
The Center for Strategic Research Foundation is a non-profit organization created under the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia. The Fund is engaged in the development and implementation of a strategy for the long-term development of the Russian economy. In July 2020, the Council of the Fund was chaired by the Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, Maxim Reshetnikov.
