Today, in the air defense missile regiment of the Air Force and Air Defense Army of the Northern Fleet, which provides air defense of the main base of the fleet – Severomorsk, an exercise was held to repel an attack by unmanned aerial vehicles of a simulated enemy on the airfield of naval aviation.

The exercise involved 8 units of military and special equipment, including 3 combat vehicles of the Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile and cannon complex based on four-axle KamAZ vehicles, prepared for operations in the Far North and the Arctic. In total, about 100 servicemen took part in the exercise.

The anti-aircraft gunners worked out the march from the deployment point to the place of the exercise, deployment to combat positions, and then – the search, detection, classification and destruction of air targets. The actions of the personnel with the use of weapons were carried out in the mode of computer simulation of a real situation, without actual shooting.

Based on the results of the exercise, the command of the Air Force and Air Defense Army of the Northern Fleet made conclusions about the effectiveness of the preparation of combat crews of the Pantsir-S1 air defense missile system.

Protection of important strategic facilities of the Northern Fleet from attack by combat unmanned aerial vehicles is one of the main elements of training air defense soldiers at the tactical level. The Pantsir-C1 complexes, which today are the most effective means of defense against unmanned aircraft, were put on alert for the air defense of the airfield of the main fleet base several years ago.
