Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Chernyshenko and Deputy Prime Minister of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Sun Chunlan held the closing ceremony of the Years of Russian-Chinese scientific, technical and innovative cooperation. The event took place at the Coordination Center of the Russian Government.
The holding of the Russian-Chinese Years was determined by President Vladimir Putin and President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping in a joint statement by Russia and China on the development of relations of comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction entering a new era.
At the beginning of the ceremony, Dmitry Chernyshenko and Sun Chunlan read out greetings from the heads of state.
Three agreements were signed in the presence of the Deputy Prime Ministers of Russia and China.
An agreement of intent to create a joint Russian-Chinese center for standardization and technology transfer in healthcare was signed by representatives of the Moscow Center for Innovative Technologies in Healthcare, the Moscow Innovation Cluster Foundation and the Beijing Institute for the Expertise of Medical Products, and the Russian Research Institute of Tsinghua University.
The student exchange agreement was concluded between the National Research University Higher School of Economics and Peking University.
A cooperation agreement was signed between the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia and Jilin University.
Sun Chunlan, Deputy Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, conveyed heartfelt congratulations to the researchers of Russia and China and noted the enormous potential of scientific, technical and innovative cooperation of both countries in the implementation of major strategic projects.
Dmitry Chernyshenko stressed that the implementation of the events of the Years of Russian-Chinese scientific, technical and innovative cooperation, supported by the leaders of both countries, demonstrated a high level of interaction between researchers and scientific teams of Russia and China. In particular, over the past two years, they have actively exchanged experience in the field of research and development of drugs and vaccines against the new coronavirus infection. More than 30 joint events were held on this issue.
Both sides noted that the significant events of the Years were the joint development and signing of a roadmap for Russian-Chinese cooperation in science, technology and innovation, the participation of the People’s Republic of China in the NICA project, the opening of a joint Russian-Chinese Mathematical Center in Beijing, the holding of the first Russian-Chinese -Chinese Youth Competition for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Russia’s participation in the 18th China International Conference and Exhibition for the Exchange of Experts as a country of honor.
According to Dmitry Chernyshenko, within the framework of the Years, cooperation was established with Chinese colleagues through Russian scientific and educational centers of the world level. In particular, REC “Kuzbass” is working on opening a representative office in China in order to establish contacts with Chinese scientific, educational and business structures.
As noted by Sun Chunlan, about 300 different events were held within the framework of the Chinese part of the plan. One of the most significant was the 18th China International Expert Exchange Conference and Exhibition in 2020. Russia took part in it as a country of honor.
Summing up, Dmitry Chernyshenko noted: “In the near future, we need to facilitate the participation of Russian and Chinese organizations in mega-science projects that are being implemented in both countries. Pay special attention to the integration of university science and scientific organizations with the real sector of the economy for the benefit of the peoples of both countries. Today we are not only completing the Years of Russian-Chinese scientific, technical and innovative cooperation, but we are also making a big step towards the implementation of new strategic initiatives. “
