The crew of the small anti-submarine ship “Snezhnogorsk” of the Kola flotilla of heterogeneous forces of the Northern Fleet completed a series of combat exercises in the training grounds of the fleet in the Barents Sea. As part of the second task of the surface ship combat training course, the combat crews of AK-176 and AK-630 conducted artillery firing at sea and air targets using the option of fighting a mock enemy’s surface ship and repelling an attack with a cruise missile.

The shooting was carried out in the water area closed for civilian shipping and aviation flights.

After the shooting practice, the crew of the Snezhnogorsk MPK conducted an exercise in the anti-sabotage defense of the ship while anchored in an unprotected roadstead and performed practical grenade throwing. Also, the sailors worked out firing at a sea mine.

Today, the small anti-submarine ship Snezhnogorsk will continue to operate according to the plan for combat training of the fleet in the Barents Sea and will practice anti-aircraft missile firing at a simulated air target, and will also fire its main caliber at a coastal target.

Upon completion of combat exercises at sea, the Snezhnogorsk MPK will return to its permanent base.

Small anti-submarine ships of project 1124M form the basis of the connection of ships for the protection of the water area of ​​the Kola flotilla. They are intended mainly for the search, tracking and destruction of submarines in the near sea and coastal zone. They are armed with the AK-176M and AK-630M anti-aircraft artillery systems, RBU-6000 rocket launchers and 533-mm torpedo tubes, as well as modern sonar systems.
