The meeting took place as a continuation of the 18th meeting of the Russian-Cuban intergovernmental commission, which took place this year in Havana, co-chaired by Yuri Borisov and Ricardo Cabrisas.

The current meeting was devoted to the discussion of key issues of the trade and economic agenda and the implementation of major bilateral projects, primarily in the industrial and energy sectors.

Yuri Borisov reaffirmed Russia’s commitments regarding the humanitarian aid promised to Cuba – essential goods, medicine and food should be sent to Cuba by the end of the year. He also recalled that Russian universities will accept and teach 100 Cuban students free of charge.
